Avril Lavigne

Bio:
Avril Lavigne (born Avril Ramona Lavigne on September 27, 1984, in Belleville, Ontario), is a Canadian singer-songwriter. Avril began singing at age 2. With the support of her parents, she learned how to play multiple instruments at a young age. At age 14, she began performing at county fairs, covering songs by country artists like Garth Brooks and Shania Twain. In 1999, she won a radio contest to perform with Shania at the Corel Centre in Ottawa. Later that year, she was discovered by her first manager, Cliff Fabri. In 2002, when she was 17 years old, Avril released her highly successful debut album Let Go. Her second album, Under My Skin, was released in 2004. Avril’s third album would come in 2007, and the lead single, “Girlfriend” would debut at number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. In addition to music, Avril has ventured in the acting world, providing the voice of Heather in the 2006 animated film, Over The Hedge and appearing in her first on-screen role in Fast Food Nation. Avril also has a clothing line, Abbey Dawn, and has a line of perfumes including Black Star, Forbidden Rose and Wild Rose.

Avril Lavigne is best known as a musician, with her hit songs “Girlfriend”, “Complicated”, “Sk8er Boi”, and  “I’m with You”.

Personal Life:
In addition to being Canadian, Avril has french citizenship thanks to her French-born father. Avril is highly involved in many charities, including Make-A-Wish Foundation, Amnesty International, the Special Olympics, Erase MS and War Child. In 2009, she was part of the biggest charity event in Latin America when she performed in Mexico City. In 2010, she introduced her own charity, The Avril Lavigne Foundation, which aims to help young people with serious illnesses and disabilities. Avril Lavigne married long term boyfriend and Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley in June 2006, but they divorced in November 2010. Avril then dated reality star Brody Jenner for several years, before marrying Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger on July 1, 2013. Sadly, in Sept. 2015, Chad and Avril announced that they were separating. In April 2022, Avril and Mod Sun announced that they were engaged after one year of dating.
