Wes Craven (born Wesley Early Craven in Cleveland, Ohio on August 2, 1939) was a famous film writer, producer, actor and director, who pretty much changed the world of horror. Many don’t realize that he actually began directing with pornographic films, and actually admitted that he made many X-rated films. He directed his first feature film in 1972, The Last House on the Left. However, in 1984, he broke out as one of the best, creating A Nightmare on Elm Street, which was also the launch of Johnny Depp‘s career. Wes would go on to direct four Scream films, The Hills Have Eyes (three originals, then two remakes), and produce three Nightmare flicks. When MTV remade Scream into a TV series in 2015, he became an EP on the show.

Personal Life:
Wes Craven was married to Bonnie Broecker from 1964 to 1969, and the two had two children. In 1984, he married Mimi Craven, but they divorce three years later. Then in 2004, he married Iya Labunka. Wes passed away at 76 on August 30, 2015 of brain cancer.
