Steve Carell (born Steven John Carell in Concord, Massachusetts on August, 16, 1962) is an American actor, comedian, director, producer and writer. After a few gigs in small theater productions and a Brown’s Chicken commercial, Steve started performing with Chicago improv troupe The Second City. In 1991 there was even a time when Stephen Colbert was his understudy. It was that same year when Steve made his film debut in the movie Curly Sue. However it wasn’t until 1999 that Steve caught a break by becoming a correspondent for The Daily Show, which he did until 2005. Also in 2005, Steve signed a contract with NBC to star in The Office, which is the show that launched him into stardom. He played the character of Michael Scott, and by season three he was making $175,000 per episode. Today Steve is most commonly seen in films. His first major film was the 2004 comedy Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy, followed by The 40-Year-Old Virgin in 2005, in which Steve was the title character. From then on Steve was considered an established leading man in Hollywood. He since went on to star in Evan Almighty, Dan in Real Life, Get Smart, Despicable Me, Date Night, and Crazy Stupid Love. In 2015 Steve starred in Foxcatcher where he earned a Golden Globe nomination for best actor in a motion picture drama as well as an Academy Award nomination for best actor. In 2016 he received another Golden Globe nomination for his performance in The Big Short.

Personal Life:
Steve Carell has been married to Saturday Night Live alumna Nancy Wells since 1995. They met in an improv class at The Second City, and they have two children together: Elisabeth, born 2001, and John, born 2004. Nancy and Steve have worked together multiple times including on The Office, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.
