Stan Lee

Bio:
Stan Lee (born Stanley Martin Lieber on December 28, 1922 in New York, New York) is an American comic book writer, editor, publisher and former president of Marvel Comics. He is famous for co-creating iconic characters like Spider-Man, the Hulk, Iron Man, Thor and many more. Stan was hired as an assistant by Timely Comics in 1939 — a company which would eventually become his own Marvel Comics by the 1960s. He rose up the ranks in the company, and in the late 1950s, was given the task of creating a new superhero team, which began with the Fantastic Four, and evolved into the creation of several more characters. His worked helped kickstart a whole new generation of comics, with a sense of engagement between the readers and creators. Stan has also worked on many of Marvel’s television series’, and made cameos in more than a dozen Marvel films. He is well-known as a public face for Marvel Comics, after making the company into a large multimedia corporation. In addition to Marvel movies and series’, Stan has also made appearances and voiced characters in many other shows and films.

Personal Life:
Stan married his wife Joan Clayton Boocock in December 1947.  In 1950, the couple welcomed a daughter, Joan Celia (“J.C.”), and, sadly, their second child, Jan Lee, died just three days after she was born in 1953.
