Sophia Smith (born in Wolverhampton, England on October 1, 1988) is the former girlfriend of One Direction‘s Liam Payne. The two met in secondary school at St. Peter’s Collegiate School in Wolverhampton, England, but sparks didn’t fly until 2013 when they ran into each other at a mutual friend’s party. They were rumored to be on and off throughout their relationship, but their love stayed strong and Liam even wrote 1D’s song “Illusion” for her. After two and a half years together, Sophia decided to end things with Liam in October 2015. Their split was confirmed in November when he admitted to being “absolutely devastated” over the breakup. She currently pursues fashion photography, as she studied fashion business and promotion in college.
