Rod Stewart (born January 10, 1945 in Highgate, London) is a British rock singer and songwriter. One of the best-selling music artists of all time, Stewart has sold over 100 million record worldwide, had six consecutive number one albums in the UK and has had 16 top ten singles in the US. Rod Stewart broke into the music industry in the late 1960s with The Jeff Beck Group, then with faces, although he began his music career in 1962 as a solo artist with a harmonica. In 1963, Stewart joined the Dimensions as a harmonica player and a part-time vocalist, and then went on to join Long John Baldry and The All Stars. In August 1964, Stewart signed a solo contract and released his first single “Good Morning Little Schoolgirl.” Throughout the late ’70s through the ’90s, Stewart’s music was more of a soft rock/pop vibe, with hits like “My Heart Can’t Tell You No,” “Forever Young,” and “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” Stewart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. On December 31, 1994, he played in front of 3.5 million people on Copacabana beach in Rio and made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest free rock concert attendance in history. In all, Stewart has released 30 studio albums, 2 live albums, 22 compilation albums, 2 video albums, 68 music videos and 145 singles. He currently has a residency in Las Vegas at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, that began on August 24, 2011. It will end on September 3, 2017.
