Roberta Vinci (born on February 18, 1983 in Taranto, Italy) is an Italian tennis player. She began playing the sport when she was just six years old, and made her professional debut in 1999. She has been most successful playing doubles with her partner, Sara Errani, and together, they have won the 2012 French One, 2012 US Open, 2013 Australian Open, 2014 Australian Open and 2014 Wimbledon. This success means they achieved a Career Grand Slam, winning all four major championships in one discipline. Roberta made major headlines in the 2015 U.S. Open, when she was ranked No. 43 and beat the No. 1 seed Serena Williams, who was attempting to make history with a Grand Slam, in the semi-finals.
