Robert Shapiro (born Robert Leslie Shapiro on September 2, 1942 in Plainfield, New Jersey) is an American civil litigator and senior partner in the Los Angeles firm, Glasser Weil Fink Jacobs Howard Avchen & Shapiro, LLP. Robert graduated from UCLA in 1965 with a B.S. in Finance, before obtaining his law degree from Loyola Law School in 1968. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1969. He started his own practice in 1972, and shortly thereafter, he represented porn star Linda Lovelace, star of Deep Throat, against charges of cocaine possession. Robert earned a litany of celebrity clients, including Darryl Strawberry, Johnny Carson and Marlon Brando’s son, Christian Brando. Robert was hired as part of O.J. Simpson’s defense team in 1995 for his famous trial over the death of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson. The jury found O.J. not guilty. After the case, Robert shifted his practice to the white-collar criminal defense field and the civil litigator arena. John Travolta would portray Robert in the first season of the bio-drama, American Crime Story.

Personal Life:
Robert married Linell Thomas in 1970. They had two songs together, Brent and Grant. Brent was found dead from an MDMA overdose in 2005, and Robert founded The Brent Shapiro Foundation, a non-profit organization aimed to raise drug awareness. Robert is also the co-founder of two companies — LegalZoom and ShoeDazzle.com.
