Rick Santorum (born Richard John Santorum on May 10, 1958 in Winchester, Virginia) is an American attorney and politician. Though born in Virginia, Rick grew up in Butler Country, Pennsylvania. Rick attended Butler Senior High School and enrolled in Penn State University. He graduated with honors in 1980, attaining a BA in political science. He completed his MBA at University of Pittsburgh a year later, before attaining his law degree at Penn State in 1986. Rick was involved in politics early, serving as the chairman of Penn State’s College Republicans chapter. After serving as a private lawyer for four years, Rick ran for office in 1990. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. In 1994, Rick successfully ran for the US Senate. He was reelected in 2000 but lost his seat in 2006. From 2001 until he left in 2007, Rick was the Senate’s third-ranking Republican. After his defeat, he returned to the private sector, joining many conservative think thanks and becoming a contributor to Fox News. In 2012, Rick ran for the Republican Nominee for President. Rick came in second in the primaries, behind Mitt Romney. Since 2012, Rick has continued to be a part of American politics. In May 2015, Rick announced that he would run for President in the 2016 Election.

Rick married his wife, Karen Garver, in 1990. They have seven children – sons John, Patrick, Daniel and daughters Maria, Elizabeth, Isabella and Sarah. In addition to his interests in politics, Rick is an avid fantasy baseball player.
