Rachel Weisz (born Rachel Hannah Weisz on March 7, 1970 in London, England) is an English actress and fashion model. Rachel was born in Westminster, London to two Eastern European immigrants who fled at the outbreak of the Second World War. While growing up, Rachel’s parents supported her interests in the arts. Rachel started modeling at age 14 and began acting while attending Cambridge University. She co-founded a student drama group that won a Guardian Student Drama award at the 1991 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 1992, Rachel made her first television and film appearances. It wasn’t until 1996’s Chain Reaction, starring Keanu Reeves, when her career began to take off. Her breakout role came in 1999’s The Mummy, where she played the female lead opposite Brendan Fraser. She followed up that mega-hit with roles in Enemy At The Gates, About A Boy and The Runaway Jury. She reunited onscreen with Keanu in the movie, Constantine in 2005. Rachel’s role in 2005’s The Constant Gardener won her both the Golden Globe and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2006, she received the BAFTA award for British Artist of the Year. Rachel continued to have high profile roles in movies, starring in The Deep Blue Sea, The Borne Legacy and Oz the Great and Powerful.
