Rachel Roy is an American fashion designer born in Monterey, California. After graduating from college in 1996, she moved to New York to continue her work in the fashion world, then as a stylist for magazines and music videos. Her big break arrived at Rocawear, where she began as an intern and rose to become the Creative Director for their women and children’s divisions. There, she met the father of her children, Damon Dash, whom she married in 2005; the same year that she launched her eponymous fashion line. Rachel’s most well-known clients include Michelle Obama, Jennifer Garner, Tyra Banks and more. In 2014, Rachel made headlines after Solange Knowles was filmed attacking her brother-in-law, Jay Z, in an elevator at the Met Ball on May 4; it was widely reported that it was an argument with Rachel about Jay that set Solange off.

Rachel Roy married Damon Dash in 2005; they split in 2009. She has two children with Damon; Ava, born December 7, 1999, and Tallulah, born May 14, 2008. In 2011, it was speculated that she was dating San Diego Chargers linebacker Dwight Freeney.
