Peta Murgatroyd (born Peta Jane Murgatroyd in Auckland, New Zealand on 14 July 1986) is an New Zealand/Australian professional dancer and choreographer. She is trained in ballet, Contemporary and Spanish dance. After she began ballroom dancing, she quickly became an Australian State Champion within 3 months, leading her to move to London to further her career. She was a part of the Burn The Floor world tour in 2004. In 2009, she performed with Burn The Floor as the lead female dancer on Broadway. She left the tour in 2009 to pursue a film and television career, appearing on the Australian version of Dancing With The Stars and So You Think You Can Dance. She has choreographed and performed with acts ranging from Rod Stewart to Enrique Iglesias. In 2011, Peta joined the American cast of Dancing With The Stars, going on to win Season 14 when she paired up with football player Donald Driver. Peta competed on season 20 of Dancing With The Stars with partner Michael Sam. She unfortunately needed to sit out Season 21 in September 2015 due to an ankle injury, but came back for Season 22 and won the Mirror Ball with deaf model/actor Nyle DiMarco. Peta took off Season 23 because of her pregnancy and returned for Season 24, where she was partnered with three-time Bachelor Nick Viall. They were the seventh pair voted off the show.

Personal Life:
Peta was born in New Zealand but moved to Australia when she was eighteen months old. She started studying classical ballet at age 4, and trained for 12 years under former principal dancer of the Kirov Ballet, Madame Lubov Nikonorenko. Peta has dated Australian professional ballroom dancer and fellow DWTS dancer Damian Whitewood, but they broke up in 2012. She then dated DWTS pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy. They split after dating for 10 months, but reunited in 2015 and were engaged on December 15, 2015. The two had a son, Shai Aleksander, on January 4, 2017. The couple were married at Oheka Castle in Long Island, New York on July 8, 2017.
