Mischa Barton (born Mischa Anne Barton on January 24, 1986 in Hammersmith, London) is an English-Irish film, television and stage actress and fashion icon. Though born in the UK, Mischa moved to New York City when she was five years old. Mischa began acting at age eight by appearing in the off-Broadway play, Slavs!. Her critically praised performance led to more theatrical productions. Mischa made the leap to television and movies in 1997’s Lawn Dogs, following it with roles in Notting Hill and The Sixth Sense. Mischa’s breakout came in 2003 when she landed the role of Marissa Cooper in The O.C. With the show’s overnight success, Entertainment Weekly named Mischa “It Girl 2003”. While she continued to pursue acting, Mischa expanded her interests to the fashion world. Mischa has modeled for multiple fashion companies, and has appeared as a spokesperson for lines like Keds Sneakers and Chanel jewelry. In 2008, she was awarded the InStyle Icon Of The Year award. That year, she created a handbad collection for online retailer, ASOS.com. She launched a new online clothing line in 2012 called Mischa’s Place. In 2016, she appeared on the 22nd season of Dancing With The Stars.
