Bio:
Michel’le (born Michl’le Toussaint in Los Angeles, California) is an American R&B singers-songwriter. She is best known for her top hit songs “No More Lies” and “Something In My Heart.” Her singing style is most widely recognized by her child-like voice in contrasting with her strong vocals. From 2013-2015, she was one of six members on the reality TV show R&B Divas. Michel’le most recently spoke out about her time with NWA’s label, Ruthless Records, and the abuse she endured during her relationship with Dr Dre and Suge Knight. Suge allegedly intimidated Eazy-E of NWA to release Michel’le, so she would come to his label, Death Row. Her life is currently being made into a Lifetime biopic, after her side of the story was omitted out of the film Straight Outta Compton.
Best Known For:
Michel’le is best known for speaking out against the brutal physical violence she endured at the hands of Dre and Suge Knight. She also is widely known for her classic R&B sound.
Personal Life:
Michel’le and Dr. Dre have a son named Marcel, born in 1991. She has gone on the record and spoke out about how Dre physically abused her, claiming he broke her nose, which she had surgically corrected, and ribs. She married Suge Knight in 1999, who she also alleges abused her. They divorced 6 years later. They have a daughter, Balei, who was born in 2002. The Lifetime film Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le is based on Michel’le’s stories.
