Bio:
Meryl Streep (born Mary Louise Streep on June 22, 1949 in Summit, New Jersey) is an American actress. Meryl appeared in numerous high school plays, but wasn’t serious in acting until she attended Vassar College. Meryl went on to get her MFA from the Yale School of Drama. She moved to New York City to act in plays, but after seeing Robert De Niro in Taxi Driver, she started auditioning for films, securing her first role in 1977’s Julia. Her breakthrough came in 1978’s The Deer Hunter, opposite De Niro. In 1979, for her role in Kramer Vs. Kramer, Meryl won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. From there, Meryl became one of the most celebrated and award-winning actresses in history. She won Oscars for her roles in Sophie’s Choice and The Iron Lady and received praise for her work in films Out of Africa, The Bridges of Madison County, Music of the Heart, and Into The Woods. She is one of only six actors to have won three or more Oscars and she has been nominated for the Golden Globes 29 times. She has also won BAFTAs, a Cannes Film Festival award and has been nominated for a Grammy five times.

Personal Life:
Meryl lived with actor John Cazale for three years before he died in 1978. She married sculptor Don Gummer and together, they have four children: Henry Gummer, Mamie Gummer, Grace Gummer and Louisa Gummer. She is a spokesperson for the National Women’s History Museum and has been an outspoken supporter of women’s rights.
