Bio:
Merritt Wever (born Siobhan Merrit Wever on January 7, 1980 in New York City, New York) is an American actress. Merrit graduated from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School in Manhattan, before attending Sarah Lawrence College. After graduating, she trained in acting in New York City, appearing in Brooke Berman’s play, Smashing, and in an off-Broadway production of Cavedweller. Her first film and television appearances include roles on shows like Law & Order: Criminal Intent, NCIS, and The Wire. She also appeared in movies like Signs, A Hole In One and Into The Wild in 2007. While Merrit landed the role of Elizabeth on New Girl in 2013, she’s best known as nurse Zoey Barkow on the television series, Nurse Jackie. Her work was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in both 2012. In 2013, she won the award and gave a memorable speech that consisted of only eleven words: “Thanks so much. Thank you so much. I gotta go. Bye.” In 2014, she had a role in the critically acclaimed film, Birdman and the next year, Merrit landed the recurring role of Dr. Denise Cloyd on the hit television series, The Walking Dead.
