Maya Rudolph (born Maya Khabira Rudolph on July 29, 1972 in Gainesville, Florida) is an American actress and comedian. Maya and her family moved from Gainesville to Los Angeles when she was very young. She attended Crossroads School in Santa Monica and enrolled in University of California, Santa Cruz, graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor’s degree in photography. During college, Maya formed the band Supersauce, but left the band to join The Rentals as a backing singer and keyboardist. After the Rentals broke up in 1999, Maya’s membership of the improv troupe The Groundlings led her to getting cast as a member of Saturday Night Live. Maya was a part of the show from 2000-2007, becoming known for her incredible impressions of Donatella Versace and Beyonce, as well as her original characters Jodi Dietz and Attorney Glenda Goodwin. In addition to SNL, Maya has appeared on television shows Up All Night, Portlandia and the US version of Kath & Kim. Her movie career started with small parts in films Gattaca, Rush Hour and 50 First Dates. Her first major role came in 2006 with both A Prairie Home Companion and in Mike Judge’s sci-fi comedy, Idiocracy. She has also appeared in Bridesmaids, Grown Ups 2, and Big Hero 6.

Personal Life:
Maya is the daughter of soul singer Minnie Riperton and composer-songwriter Richard Rudolph. She is a childhood friends with Gwyneth Paltrow and Jack Black. Since 2001, she has been in a relationship with film director Paul Thomas Anderson. They have four children together – daughters Pearl, Lucille and Minnie and son Jackson.
