Maya DiRado

Bio:
Maya DiRado (born Madeline Jane DiRado in San Francisco, California, on April 5, 1993) is a American former competitive swimmer. She attended Stanford University, where she swam for the school’s team for four years and was named Pac-12 Swimmer of the Year in her senior year. After failing to qualify for the 2012 Olympics, Maya participated in the Olympic Trials for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro by winning three of her four events. She ended up medaling in every event she swam in Rio, earning gold in the 200m backstroke and 4x200m freestyle relay, silver in the 400m individual medley, and bronze in the 200m individual medley. Maya announced that she will be retiring after the Olympics and will pursue a business career in her post-swimming days, beginning as a Business Analyst with consulting firm McKinsey & Company.

Maya is best known for her career as a professional swimmer, swimming backstroke, freestyle, butterfly, and individual medley events.

Personal Life:
Maya met fellow swimmer Rob Andrews while she was competing on Stanford University’s team. The two married on Sept. 19, 2015.
