Matt Barnes (born Matt Kelly Barnes on March 9, 1980 in Santa Clara, California) is an American professional basketball player. Matt played for Del Campo High School in Fair Oaks, California, earning honors as an All-American, All-State and All-City basketball player. After high school, Matt enrolled at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) where he played four seasons of basketball. While at UCLA, he was an All-Pacific-10 Honorable Mention in 2001. The Memphis Grizzlies drafted Matt as the 46th Overall pick in the 2002 Draft. Mat didn’t stay in Memphis for long, as during summer 2002, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs cut Matt that October, and he then played for the Fayetteville Patriots, a NBA D-League. In January 2004, Matt singed with the Lost Angeles Clippers, but after his short contract was up, he signed with the Sacramento Kings. The Kings traded Matt to the Philadelphia 76ers in the middle of the 2004-05 season. Over the next ten years, Matt would play with the New York Knicks, the Golden State Warriors, the Phoenix Suns, the Orlando Magic and the Los Angeles Lakers. In June 25, Matt was traded back to the Memphis Grizzlies, the team that drafted him in 2002.

Personal Life:
Matt’s younger brother, Jason Barnes, played in the Canadian Football League, playing Wide Receiver for the Central Valley Coyotes, the Edmonton Eskimos and the Toronto Argonauts. Matt has a set of twins with Gloria Govan, who appeared in VH1’s Basketball Wives and Basketball Wives: LA. Matt claimed that he and singer, Rihanna, were in a ‘crush stage’ of a relationship. She harshly denied this.
