Martin Luther King Jr. (born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15 1959) was an American clergyman, activist, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. He was crucial in the advancement of civil rights using nonviolent civil disobedience. He was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee.
Best Known For:
Martin Luther King Jr. is best known for progressing the African-American Civil Rights Movement, and for giving his famous “I Have A Dream” speech in Washington DC on August 28 1963. He was assassinated at age 39 for his work.
Personal Life:
Martin Luther King married Coretta Scott in 1953, and they had four children: Yolanda King, Martin Luther King III, Dexter Scott King, and Bernice King.
