It was all good news from there — Martin appeared in Love, Actually, Shawn of the Dead, and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy in the early 2000s, then reached mainstream status when he was cast as John Watson opposite Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock on, well, Sherlock. He also plays the leading role of Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy.
