Luis Suarez (born Luis Alberto Suárez Díaz in Salto, Uruguay on January 24, 1987) is a Uruguayan professional soccer player who plays for the Spanish club Barcelona and the Uruguay national team as a striker. Luis began his career as a youth player for Nacional in 2003. He then signed for Groningen in the Netherlands in 2006 and transferred to Ajax in 2007. He helped Ajax win the KNVB Cup in 2010 while becoming the league’s top scorer with 35 goals in 33 games. But in January 2011, Luis transferred to English Premier League club Liverpool. The next year he won the Football League Cup with the club. In his first season at Barcelona, Luis starred alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar, a talented trio dubbed MSN, and helped the club win the continental treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League. At the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Luis scored his 40th international goal. He is the third-most expensive player in soccer history.

Personal Life:
Luis Suarez was born the fourth of seven boys. His older brother, Paolo Suárez, is also a professional soccer player, currently playing for Sonsonate in El Salvador. He grew up very poor and developed his soccer skills on the streets. Luis started dating Sofia Balbi at the age of 15 when they both lived in Montevideo. However, the Balbi family moved to Barcelona in 2003, and Luis’ focus on soccer strengthened as a result because he wanted to follow them to Europe to join Sofia again. The couple married in 2009, and together they have a daughter and a son.
