Laurie Hernandez (born Lauren Hernandez on June 9, 2000 in New Brunswick, New Jersey) is an American gymnast. The young gymnast competed multiple times internationally for the U.S. on the junior level. Laurie moved up to the senior level in 2016. On July 10, 2016, she finished 2nd in the All-Around Competition at the Olympic Trials. She was named to the 2016 Rio Olympics USA Women’s Gymnastics team, alongside Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, Madison Kocian and Gabby Douglas.

Personal Life:
Laurie started gymnastics at the age of five. Although she has a tight schedule, she occasionally volunteers at the Sayre Woods Bible Church. She has said she enjoys listening to One Direction and Ed Sheeran. Laurie committed to the University of Florida on December 8., 2014. She will attend in the fall of 2018.
