Kiefer Sutherland (born Kiefer William Frederick Dempsey George Rufus Sutherland on December 21, 1966 in Paddington, London, England) is a British-born Canadian actor, producer and director. Kiefer is the son of successful actors Donald Sutherland and Shirley Douglas. The family moved from London to Corona, California. After Kiefer’s parents divorced in 1970, he went to live with his mother in Toronto. He attended five different high schools before graduating. He enrolled in Regina Mundi Catholic College in London, Ontario and attended Sir Frederick Banting Second School for acting lessons. Kiefer’s first film role was in the 1983 comedy Max Dugan Returns, but his breakout role came in 1986’s Stand by Me. He followed it up with roles in the 1980’s films The Lost Boys, Promised Land and Young Guns. Kiefer continued to act in the ’90s, but his career received a second wind in 2001 after he landed the role of Jack Bauer on the critically acclaimed television series 24. After being nominated four times for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, he finally won it in 2006. 24 ran until 2011, before returning for a limited series in 2014, 24: Live Another Day.

Personal Life:
Kiefer married his first wife, Camelia Kath, in 1987. They had a daughter, Sarah, together before divorcing in 1990. He then began a relationship with Julia Roberts in 1990. They planned to wed on June 14, 1991, but Julia broke off the engagement over reports of Kiefer’s cheating. He married his second wife, Kelly Winn, in 1996. They separated in 1999 and finalized their divorce in 2008. Kiefer is named after Warren Kiefer, who directed Donald Sutherland’s first film. He was arrested on September 2007 on drunk driving charges. It was his fourth DUI since 1989 and he served 48 days in jail for the offense.
