Joe McKnight

Bio:
Joe McKnight (born Joe Nathan McKnight in Kenner, Louisiana on April 16, 1988) was a football line backer who played for the New York Jets of the NFL from 2010 until 2013. After playing college football for the University of Southern California (USC), Joe was picked by the Jets in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. During his early season on the team, he struggled to keep up with the rest of the players. Nevertheless, he made his debut on the professional team in Oct. 2010, against the Buffalo Bills. During his next two seasons, Joe picked up momentum and made a number of game-changing plays. In 2012, McKnight helped extend the Jets’ record of most consecutive years with a kickoff returns for a touchdown, a record the team had held for the past 11 years. Unfortunately, the Jet’s released the defenseman in Aug. 2013. Joe went on to play for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2014, where was able to make a name for himself. But he was counted out for the rest of that season after he suffered from a torn Achilles’ tendon during practice. After leaving the Chiefs, Joe transferred to the Canadian Football League, where he played for the CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos. He was later released from that team due to fumbling issues in Aug. 2016. On Oct. 15, Joe debuted on the field for the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders, his first time starting for a Canadian team. Joe died on Dec. 1, 2016, due to a road rage shooting.

Personal Life:
Joe McKnight was killed during a road rage shooting in New Orleans on Dec. 1, 2016. After he had gotten into some sort of accident with another driver, a man reportedly pulled out a gun and shot Joe twice while he standing over his body screaming.
