Joakim Noah (born on February 25, 1985 in New York, New York) is an American professional basketball player. He played basketball for the University of Florida, where he won two consecutive NCAA championships in 2006 and 2007. Joakim was drafted to the Chicago Bulls as the ninth overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. He played for the Bulls for nine years, until a season-ending injury led him to be released as a free agent. He was then signed to the Knicks under a four-year $72 million contract.

Personal Life:
Joakim was born to a Swedish mother and a French father. His father, Yannick Noah, a professional tennis player, was the winner of the French Open in 1983. His mother, Cecilia Rodhe, was the former Miss Sweden 1978. Joakim’s grandfather, Zacharie Noah, was a Cameroonian professional soccer player. In 2008, Joakim was arrested for having an open container of alcohol and possession of marijuana in Gainesville, Florida. A few hours later, he was cited for driving without a license and not wearing a seatbelt. Joakim was sentenced to six months probation and fines. In 2010, Joakim and his mother founded the Noah’s Arc Foundation to give children a place for positive expression through arts and sports.
