Jeffrey Dean Morgan (born April 22, 1966 in Seattle, Washington) is an American actor. Jeffrey attended Lake Washington High School in Kirkland, Washington. He played basketball in both high school and college. A knee injury ended his career, and he began working as a graphic artist. After helping a friend move to Los Angeles, Jeffery figured he’d give acting a try. His first role came in 1991’s Uncaged. While Jeffery has appeared in over 25 films, his breakout role came on television. His role as Denny Duquette in ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy won hearts of the Shonda Rhimes drama. He also appeared in two episode of the Showtime series, Weeds. Jeffery appeared in episode of ER, JAG, and CSI, as well as films like Watchmen, The Losers and the remake of Red Dawn. In 2015, Jeffrey lost a startling amount of weight to play Deaf Smith in Texas Rising, accurately portraying the character with tuberculosis. In 2015, he was cast as the villainous character of Negan on The Walking Dead.

Jeffrey was briefly engaged to his Weeds co-star Mary-Louise Parker in 2008. In 2009, actress Sherrie Rose accused Jeffrey of being the father of her son, Dean Morgan. In 2009, he began a relationship with actress Hilarie Burton. They welcomed a son, Augustus, in 2010. He enjoys barbecuing, reading and listening to The Eagles.
