Heidi Cruz

Bio:
Heidi Cruz (born Heidi Suzanne Nelson on August 7, 1972 in San Luis Obispo, California) is an American investment manager at Goldman Sachs. Heidi grew up in a Seventh-day Adventist family and spent part of her childhood in Africa with her missionary parents. She attended Valley View Adventist Academy and Monterey Bay Academy before graduating from Claremont McKenna College in 1994 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and International Relations. A year later, she received a Masters of European Business from Université Libre de Bruxelles in Brussels, Belgium. However, Heidi’s dream was to attend Harvard Business School and she fulfilled it by graduating with an MBA from Harvard in 2000. That year, she worked for President George W. Bush’s presidential campaign, where she met her future husband, Ted Cruz. In 2003, she worked as a top deputy to U.S. Trade Rep Robert Zoellick, before becoming the director for the National Security Council’s Western Hemisphere division under Condoleezza Rice. In 2004, she left DC to join Ted in Texas. In 2005, she joined Goldman Sachs, working as a private wealth manager. As of 2016, she is the Region Head for the Southwest Region in the Investment Management Division. She has also been supportive of her husband’s 2016 Presidential campaign.

Heidi Cruz is best known as being a Goldman Sachs investment manager, a former National Security Council worker and the wife of Ted Cruz.

Personal Life:
Heidi and Ted were married on May 27, 2001. In 2008, she gave birth to their first child, Caroline Camille Cruz. In 2011, they welcomed a second daughter, Catherine Christiane Cruz. In the early years of her marriage, Heidi suffered from depression. In 2016, she came under fire for financing Ted Cruz’s 2012 senate campaign with an undeclared loan from Goldman Sachs.
