Evan Bayh

Bio:
Evan Bayh (born Birch Evans Bayh III in Shirkieville, Indiana on December 26, 1955) is a Democratic politician who served as the junior U.S. Senator and Governor of Indiana. The politician first held public office as the Secretary of State of Indiana, from 1986 until 1988. After two years of holding that position, he was elected as the Governor of Indiana. After completing two terms as Governor from 1989 to 1997, he left office and briefly took a position lecturing at Indiana University Bloomington. In Jan. 1999, Evan was elected to the U.S Senate. While he was a beloved politician by many, he shockingly announced in Feb. 2010, that he would not be seeking reelection to the Senate. Evan left the Senate in Jan. 2011. After leaving, he joined the law and lobbying firm, McGuireWoods in Washington D.C., where he became a senior adviser with Apollo Global Management. In June 2011, he also became the messaging adviser for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. On July 11, 2016, Evan announced that he would be running for the U.S. Senate in Indiana once again, to replace Republican Dan Coats.

Personal Life:
Evan Bayh was elected to the U.S. Senate seat in Indiana in 1999, which was a seat once held by his father, Birch Bayh. Bayh is married to Susan Bayh. Together they have twin sons.
