Bio:
Emma Thompson (born on April 15, 1959 in Paddington, London, England, United Kingdom) is a British actress, screenwriter, author and general hero to most. She is hilarious, brilliant and gorgeous. Thompson has multiple Oscars and about a billion other nominations and awards, as she should. Thompson is known for portraying female characters in a realistic and extremely watchable fashion, often injecting a sense of haughtiness and irony into her roles. She has participated in a variety of feature and short film projects, and largely stars in book and poem adaptations, such as the wildly popular Harry Potter franchise. Thompson frequently collaborates with fellow Brit Alan Rickman, and they have worked together on The Song of Lunch, the Harry Potter series and the film Love Actually, to name a few. Thompson has also dabbled in voice acting for animated feature films including Pixar’s Brave and Disney’s Treasure Planet. As an author, Thompson has inherited Beatrix Potter’s children’s book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Thompson has written two new installments, the latest of which was released in Sept. 2014. To the delight of fans, Thompson will star as Mrs. Potts in the upcoming live-action Disney film Beauty and the Beast.

Thompson first married actor/director Kenneth Branagh, and they separated in 1995. Thompson is currently married to actor Greg Wise and they have two children, son Tindyebwa Agaba and daughter Gaia Romilly. In early 2015, Thompson decided to homeschool her daughter. Thompson is an outspoken person, and has discussed issues such as religion, the environment and human rights. She supports Greenpeace, and is an ambassador for the charity ActionAid. She is also a patron of the Elton John AIDS foundation.
