Dr. Dre (born Andre Romelle Young on February 18, 1965 in Compton, California) is an American rapper, record producer and entrepreneur. Dre attended many early rap concerts, meeting DJ Yella and starting his first foray into music. Dre was part of the World Class Wreckin’ Cru, a 1980s electro group that dominated early ‘80s West Coat hip-hop. Dre dropped out of high school to focus on music, meeting Ice Cube and Eazy-E in 1986. With MC Ren, Dre and the others formed N.W.A., the group credited with popularizing the gangsta rap genre. Dre left the group in 1989 over financial disputes. Dre co-founded Death Row Records with Suge Knight. Dre released his classic record, The Chronic, in 1992. It went on to be certified triple-platinum and he won the Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance. Dre produced Snoop Dogg’s debut album, Doggystyle, which was the first debut album to enter the Billboard 200 chart at number one. Dre left Death Row in 1995 forming Aftermath Entertainment. Dre produced the 1999 debut album for Eminem, helping to launch his career. Dre’s second album, 2001, was released and considered a return to his roots. Afterward, Dre focused on production, working with rappers like Jay Z and Young Buck. Dre was reportedly working on a third album, Detox, but as of 2015, it has yet to be released. Since 2008, Dre has been associated with his brand of headphones, Beats by Dre.

Personal Life:
Dre has been convicted in multiple cases of violence against women, including his high-profile assault of Dee Barnes in 1992. Dre was 17 when his first son, Curtis Young, was born to then girlfriend, Cassandra Joy Greene. Dre had a second son, Andre Young Jr., with Jenita Porter in 1988. Dre dated singer Michel’le from 1990 to 1996. They had a son, Marcel, 1991. In 1996, Dre married Nicole Threatt and they have two children together: a son, Truice, and a daughter, Truly.
