Deshaun Watson (born September 14, 1995 in Gainesville, Georgia) is an American football quarterback. Deshaun grew up in his native Gainesville, Georgia. While playing for the Gainesville Highs School football team, he led the Red Elephants to a state championship while he was a junior. He set numerous state records, passing for over 13,000 yards and 155 career passing touchdowns. He also rushed for over 4,000 yards for 63 touchdowns. He was named as a Junior All-American and a 2014 Player to Watch and a 2014 Top 100 Recruit. Deshaun was courted by multiple colleges, including University of Alabama, Auburn, Florida State University, Georgia Tech, Ohio State and University of Southern California. Deshaun eventually committed to Clemson. While as a true freshman season, Deshaun played as a backup to starter Cole Stoudt, but was named started in September. However, his freshman season was interrupted due to a broken bone in his right hand. He returned to help lead the Tigers to a winning season. In 2015, Deshaun led the Tigers to an undefeated regular season and a #1 ranking in the national polls. He was named a finalist for the 2015 Heisman Trophy, finishing third in the voting. The award went to Derrick Henry of Alabama. The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers would face each other in the 2015-16 College Football Championship game.
