Daniel Gillies (born March 14, 1976 in Winnipeg, Canada) is a Canadian-born New Zealand actor and filmmaker. He got his start on syndicated TV shows like Young Hercules and Cleopatra 2525, before graduating to major movies like Spider-Man 2. His fame skyrocketed when he was cast on The CW’s The Vampire Diaries as Elijah, a character which also appears on the spin-off, The Originals.

Personal Life:
Daniel married Rachael Leigh Cook Aug. 14, 2004. The couple announced they were expecting their first child on May 13, 2013. On Jan. 22, 2015, Rachael and Daniel announced they were expecting their second child.

The Oct. 22 episode of The Originals finally answered the age-old question: “What’s up with that little girl in the attic?” I enjoyed getting to know Davina (Danielle Campbell), as well as her love of fiddles — and the boys who play them. Of course, it was her showdown with Klaus (Joseph Morgan) that revealed what she’s really capable of, and now I love her more than ever.

‘The Originals’ Series Premiere: Klaus Draws Battle Lines In New Orleans

With (most of) the Mikaelsons far away from Mystic Falls, ‘The Originals’ series premiere set the stage for an epic new struggle in the Big Easy.
For the record, this is one of the most difficult recaps I’ve ever had to write — not because the episode was bad (it was perfect!) or because it was too complicated (it wasn’t!) but because I kind of feel like I already wrote it. The Originals’ series premiere was very much a re-telling of the backdoor pilot we saw last season on The Vampire Diaries, with a few added goodies for long-time fans, and few more explanations for first-time viewers.

‘Vampire Diaries’ Recap: Klaus Wages War & Gets A Life-Changing Surprise

This week’s ‘Vampire Diaries’ set the stage for some hard times in the Big Easy. If The CW doesn’t pick up this spin-off, it would be a crime against television.
I don’t think we’re in Mystic Falls anymore, Toto! The April 25 episode of The Vampire Diaries — aka the back-door pilot for The Originals, which I’m crossing my fingers for harder than ever — introduced us to the “dark side” of New Orleans, where Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) former protege Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) rules the roost. You know, when he’s not rocking the karaoke mic. But Klaus and Marcel’s buddy-buddy routine fell to pieces as Klaus became resentful of his former BFF, and vowed to steal back his kingdom.
