Covelli Crisp (born Covelli Loyce “Coco” Crisp in Los Angeles, California on November 1, 1979) is a professional baseball outfielder, who currently plays for the Cleveland Indians of the Major League of Baseball. Covelli, who is also recognized as Coco, played two years in the minor leagues, before becoming an center fielder for the Indians in mid-2002. For the next three seasons, Coco continued to establish his reputation as a high-preforming fielder with record batting averages. In 2006, Coco signed a three-year contract to play with the Boston Red Sox. During his three seasons he received a lot of press for various injuries as well as scandals. In his 2007 season, he was nearly run over by the Seattle Mariner’s mascot. And in his 2008 season, he was at the center of controversy because of a game against the Tampa Bay Rays, where he endured knee injuries due to a “shady play” by opposing shortstop, Jason Bartlett. After his contract was up with the Red Sox, Covelli moved around from the Kansas City Royals and Oakland Athletics from 2012 to 2016. In August 2016, Coco made his return to the Cleveland Indians where he continues to play.
