Charlie Hunnam (born April 10, 1980 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England) is an English actor and screenwriter. He began acting in 1998. In 2001, Charlie starred in the Judd Apatow-produced TV comedy Undeclared. The show was canceled after 17 episodes. After small roles in movies like Cold Mountain and Green Street, Charlie landed the role of Jax Teller in FX’s Sons of Anarchy in 2008. Since then, Charlie has been the lead role in the 2013 action movie Pacific Rim, and on Sept. 2, 2013, it was announced that he had been cast as Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. However, he later dropped out the film later on. In 2017, he landed the role as Arthur in the hit film, King Arthur. He joked that when he got famous his bought 85 pairs of Nike sneakers just because he could — when he realized it was a little obnoxious, he donated a ton to charity.

Charlie Hunnam was born and raised in Newcastle, England. He was discovered by a production manager at a local shoe store. In 1999, Charlie married fellow actor Katharine Towne after four weeks of dating. The two divorced in 2002. In 2007, he began dating jewelry designer Morgana McNelis. The two moved to Los Angeles together in July 2013.
