Betty Shelby (born Betty Jo Shelby, in Kellyville, Oklahoma on February 3, 1974) is an American police officer. She’s being charged for first-degree manslaughter after shooting an unarmed black man named Terrance Crutcher, 40, in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Sept. 16. Betty and her team were headed to an unrelated domestic violence call when they discovered his car in the middle of the road. The incident was recorded on dash-cam and aerial footage, showing Terrance walking away with his hands up in the air as he was fatally shot by Betty. Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler filed the charges.
