Beau Biden (born Joseph Robinette “Beau” Biden on February 3, 1969 in Wilmington, Delaware) was an American Democratic politician, attorney, Army JAG officer, and the elder son of United States Vice President Joe Biden. Beau served as the Attorney General of Delaware and as a major in the Delaware Army National Guard. Upon graduating from University of Pennsylvania and Syracuse University College of Law, he worked at the United States Department of Justice in Philadelphia from 1995-2004. He joined the military in 2003, and was a Major in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps. He was activated to deploy to Iraq in Oct. 2008 and returned a year later, in Sept. 2009. Joe was elected to two terms as Delaware Attorney General, in 2006 and in 2010. He was the first person to have held an elected office while his father was in office as Vice President. Beau sadly died of brain cancer on May 30, 2015. Before his death, he announced his intention to run for Governor of Delaware in the 2016 race.

Personal Life:
Beau was married to Hallie Biden, and together they had two children: daughter, Natalie and son, Hunter. Beau struggled with brain cancer during the final years of his life, starting with frequent hospital visits in 2010.
