Asa Butterfield

Bio:
Asa Butterfield (Born Asa Maxwell Thorton Farr Butterfield on April 1, 1997 in Islington, London, England) is an English actor. Asa started acting at the age of 7 with the Young Actors’ Theatre in his hometown of Islington. His early film and television career included minor roles in the dramas After Thomas, Ashes to Ashes and the movie, Son of Rambow. When he was 10, he played the lead in The Boy in The Striped Pyjamas, a Holocaust drama. Asa landed roles in both The Wolfman and Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang, before scoring his breakout part in Martin Scorsese’s Hugo in 2011. The hit movie was a critical and financial success. Asa starred in the lead of Ender’s Game, the movie adapted from the Orson Scott Card novel of the same name. Asa followed those successful showings with roles in movies A Brilliant Young Mind and Ten Thousand States. In 2015, he was rumored to play Peter Parker in the reboot of the Spider-Man film series.

Personal Life:  
In addition to movies, Asa enjoys making music. He released a mash-up of “Teenage Dirtbag” by Wheatus and “Making Plans For Nigel” by XTC in 2004. In 2012, Asa released a turn-based iPad video game that he made with his father and brother called Racing Blind. Asa uses the middle name “Bopp” on his passport, after the Hale-Bopp Comet. As a sports fan, he supports the Arsenal Football Club.
