Al Gore

Bio:
Al Gore (born Albert Arnold Gore Jr. on March 31, 1948 in Washington, D.C.) is an American politician, advocate and philanthropist. Al was the son of a U.S. Representative who later served as a U.S. Senator from Tennessee. Growing up, Al lived with his family in D.C. and during the summers, he spent time in Carthage, Tennessee on his family’s farm. After graduating from Harvard in 1969, he enlisted in the Army and served in Vietnam. After he returned from the war, pursued a career in journalism before attending Vanderbilt University Law School. Al did not complete his degree, instead choosing to go into politics. Al served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1976 until 1993. Al ran for president in 1988. In 1992, he was tapped to be Bill Clinton’s vice-president. Al served along Bill’s two terms and in 2000, ran for the White House for a second time. Al was narrowly defeated by President George W. Bush. After the election, Al focused his efforts on Environmental efforts, especially on raising awareness of Global Warming and Climate Change. Along with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Al received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. He was the subject of the Academy Award for Best Documentary, An Inconvenient Truth.

Personal Life:
Al met Mary Elizabeth “Tipper” Aitcheson in 1965. They married in 1970. They had four children together — Karenna, Kristin Carlson, Sarah LaFon and Albert Gore III. In June 2010, Al and Tipper announced in an email to their friends that after a “long and careful consideration,” they made the mutual decision to separate. They have remained friendly.
