Encore! Encore! No, I’m serious — can we do this show again next year? Because after watching ‘The Wiz’ last night, I’m not convinced that NBC will be able to match, let alone top, the perfection of this production in 2016. Or, you know, ever.
Can you feel a brand new day? It is an odd sort of feeling: waking up the morning after an NBC musical special and not feeling the need to spew a barrage of snarky comments (a la Anna Kendrick) at the production. The Wiz took audiences to Oz with the help of an outstandingly talented cast, mesmerizing costumes, and a modernized twist to a classic tale. Judging by the copious amount of praise the show got from fans on Twitter, it’s safe to say the show was a huge hit with audiences. But here’s the real question: what the hell are they going to do next year?
