‘Riverdale’ Season 5 Trailer: Veronica Cries After Learning ‘Something Happened’ With Betty & Archie

Everything is about to change on 'Riverdale.' The season 5 trailer was released and gave us a glimpse at prom night drama. Veronica appears to learn about Betty and Archie's real kiss.

Riverdale will return for season 5 on Jan. 20. The long-awaited season will pick up where it left off in season 4 and will then feature a flash-forward into the future. Before the time jump, the Riverdale kids have to celebrate the end of their senior year with prom. Since this is Riverdale, you know the drama is going down amid all the glitz and glamour.

In the trailer, Veronica is in tears on prom night. “Something happened between Betty and Archie,” Veronica cries while wearing her gorgeous blue prom dress. Whether she’s just thinking something went down between Betty and Archie or finds out about the kiss Betty and Archie shared during the musical episode, Veronica being in pain is heartbreaking.

In other Riverdale relationship news, there’s a very sexy Bughead scene in Betty’s bedroom. Meanwhile, Cheryl and Toni are the queens of the Riverdale High prom. They look so adorable striking their best prom pose together. Cheryl and Toni’s relationship is rock solid. You love to see it.

The creepy town voyeur is still at large, and things are only getting more dangerous and disturbing in season 5. Betty, Jughead, and Archie appear to be looking up at someone who hanged themselves at one point in the trailer. “I’m never going to get that image out of my head,” Betty says.

Riverdale season 4 ended with its 19th episode due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Season 5 will start with episodes that were intended to be the final episodes of season 4. The show will then jump ahead 7 years into the future, with the Riverdale kids far beyond their high school days. Season 5 will also feature the departures of full-time cast members Skeet Ulrich and Marisol Nichols, who play F.P. Jones and Hermione Lodge. Riverdale season 5 will air Wednesdays on The CW.
