Justin Bieber, 26, wants fans to leave the past in the past — especially when it comes to his relationship with ex Selena Gomez, 28. The Changes singer posted a charged response to a fan video, urging “Jelena” fans to flood Hailey Baldwin‘s comments in an upcoming Instagram live with messages about Selena. “This sad excuse of a human just encouraged people on video to literally go after my wife telling people to say that my previous relationship was better so on and so forth. I just wanted to share this so that people get an idea of what we face day to day,” Justin — who married Hailey, 24, in 2018 — wrote via his Instagram story on Thursday, Dec. 3.
“It is extremely hard to choose the high road when I see people like this try and rally to gather people to bully the person I love most in this world,” he explained. “It is not right. But I will say this: As many people as there are that want to spend their time publicly degrading shaming and trying to humiliate us we would like to ask those who have it in them to life us up in prayer. We need prayer and support as we continue to put ourselves out there.”
The “Yummy” crooner then posted the fans video in two parts to show his millions of followers what he was responding to. “Hailey Baldwin is going to do a live…This is the time will they will not be turning off comments,” the fan said. “We need to f—ing bombard that s— with Jelena and how Selena is better. Go after her, please — let’s all go after her,” they urged. Justin and Selena — better known as Jelena — began their romance as teenagers back in 2010. The pair were on and off again for years, most recently splitting in 2018. A few months later, Justin married Hailey, who he also had dated in the past.
The pair celebrated their nuptials with a ceremony and reception a year later in South Carolina, where Hailey stunned in a custom dress by Virgil Abloh. While Selena has declined to name names, she’s addressed her struggles with her past romance in songs like “Lose You To Love Me,” “Look At Her Now,” and past hit, “The Heart Wants What It Wants.”
Justin continued, “After watching that I could easily let it steal my joy, but then I should think about her life and how miserable she must be to want to spend her life trying to make others feel small.” He went on to conclude his message with a positive, uplifting note. “The lesson here is SHES THE ONE MISSING OUT.. life is fulfilling when you uplift and add value to people! A life where you want to make others feel small will leave you with no friends and no real JOY,” he reminded fans.
Hailey also responded to the video in a separate Instagram post. “I usually stay quiet and don’t acknowledge these things because I need to protect myself and my mental,” she explained. “But it has truly gotten to a level of angle and what is shockingly unhealthy and sad. I would never in a million years wish for someone to be treated this way and I will never condone this kind of hateful behavior. I want only to support, uplift and encourage other women in this industry and wish them noting but love and success and I wish for all of my follower sand supporters to the same!!” the BareMinerals model added, signing off with, “Wishing the young woman in that video all the best, I hope she finds love, peace and happiness in this life!
