Khloe Kardashian bonded with her ex, Tristan Thompson, in a big way during the coronavirus quarantine, as we saw on this season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. During the Nov. 12 episode, she continued to gush about how supportive he was when she was sick with COVID-19. Her family was convinced that they started sleeping together again, but both Khloe and Tristan insisted that nothing physical happened between them.
However, there was no secret of the fact that Tristan wanted to get back together with Khloe. At this point, it had been more than a year since he cheated on her with Jordyn Woods, and he spent a good portion of that time trying to prove that he deserved her. Khloe, though, was still hesitant, and truly didn’t know what she wanted. “I 100 percent have a bloc up,” she said. “Every relationship I go into is disappointing and f***ed up. I have every reason to be guarded.”
Khloe’s best friend, Malika Haqq, urged her to talk things out with Tristan and see if it was worth giving the relationship another chance. “Most people don’t want to get back with the person who broke your heart in front of millions of people, but the Khloe I know doesn’t give a f*** what other people think,” she said. “I know he still loves you and I think deep down you still love him.”
Finally, Khloe and Tristan sat down and had the all-important conversation. “For almost a year now, you’ve been a different person,” Khloe told him. “It frustrates me because I’m like…why now? Why are you the man I dreamed of currently? Why couldn’t you be that when we were together? One of my fears is you’re going to keep acting like this until you get what you want, and when you do, you’re going to turn into the old Tristan again.”
Tristan insisted that the ‘new’ him was here to stay, and flat-out told Khloe he wanted her back. “I’ve grown to a point where I know what I want you in my life,” he revealed. “Obviously we’re always going to be in each other’s lives because we have [our daughter], but I want more than that.”
Unfortunately, Khloe still just wasn’t ready — but she did let him know she would continue to try and get there. “You can understand the reservations that I have. Do I love you? A million percent. Am I in love with you currently? No,” she admitted. “Just because you have a family with someone doesn’t mean you have to stay with someone if it’s not the best fit. I don’t know what the future holds. All I know is I’m actively trying to take down little bricks. I try to be more trusting. It’s a slow process but that’s just how it has to be for me. But I do appreciate the effort and the new you.”
In a confessional, she added, “I have seen so much growth and so much change in Tristan, which I am so grateful for. But I will say, right now I’m giving the best that I can give and trying. I feel like we’re in a good place and there’s progression and some forward momentum.”
Of course, this was filmed back in the spring, and a lot of time has passed since then. Tristan has continued to be a constant in Khloe’s life, and has been present for all major KarJenner events over the last several weeks. We’ll have to see how this plays out between them when KUWTK returns for its 20th and final season in 2021.
