UPDATE (12/23/22, 19:00 PM ET): After a jury trial that lasted a few weeks in Nov. and Dec. 2022, Tory Lanez was found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
UPDATE (10/21/20, 00:23 AM ET): Following Tory Lanez’s arrest in July, the rapper was later charged with “assaulting a female friend” (who was identified in charging documents that HollywoodLife reviewed as Megan P., referring to Megan Thee Stallion’s legal name). He faced two felony counts: one for “assault with a semiautomatic firearm – personal use of a firearm,” and “carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle,” the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office announced on Oct. 8.
A few weeks after these charges were announced, Tory denied ever shooting Megan, whom he still considered a “friend.” The rapper insisted his innocence during an Instagram Live session on Oct. 20, saying, “It’s crazy because the whole thing about it is like when this whole debacle, or whatever you call it, came about the whole time it’s like she knows what happened, I know what happened and we know that what you’re saying and what the alleged things, alleged accusations of my name is, are not true. It’s falsified information.”
ORIGINAL: Tory Lanez, 27, was arrested on a gun charge after a house party in the Hollywood Hills on July 12, a police report obtained by HollywoodLife confirms. Megan Thee Stallion, 25, was also with Tory at the time, according to TMZ, and she was later taken to a hospital to be treated after she injured her foot on some broken glass.
It all started when, according to the police report, authorities were called to the party’s location at around 4:30 a.m., after an alleged argument involving the rapper broke out outside the home. Witnesses told TMZ that shots were fired in the air before an SUV in the same area sped off. After police received a description of the SUV, TMZ claims they located it and found both Tory and Megan inside, along with another unidentified woman and a gun.
While Megan was taken to the hospital because of her injury, the police report tells us that Tory was taken to jail and booked for carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, which is considered a felony. He was held on a $35K bail, and police listed Megan as a “victim” of the incident. TMZ further reported that four shell casings were found by police outside of the Hollywood Hills home, however, HollywoodLife was not able to confirm that detail.
Before the arrest happened, Tory and Megan were seen hanging out at a pool party with Kylie Jenner, 22, as evidenced by a video posted on Megan’s Instagram Live this past weekend (see that video below), and it appeared as though they were at the makeup mogul’s new Holmby Hills mansion. We can’t confirm if Kylie was at the same Hollywood Hills home at the time shots were allegedly fired, but the location is several miles away from her own home.
Neither Tory or Megan have spoken out publicly about the incident yet, however, HollywoodLife has reached out to both of their reps for comment.
Tory and Megan have become close over the past few months and even sparked romance rumors in May, when people found out they were quarantining together. Megan and Tory were first spotted hanging out in an Instagram Live video in April and other clips after that, and although they never confirmed anything, some fans thought they were an item while others insisted they were just friends.
