Julianne Hough opened up even further about her sexuality after she expressed that she is ā€œnot straightā€ in a cover interview with Women’s Health back in August. ā€œFor me, that comment specifically, was basically to say, ā€˜I love everyone!'ā€, the 31-year-old ā€œTransformā€ singer told People Now on December 3. Julianne’s brother, fellow pro dancer Derek Hough also joined her for the interview, and admitted that his sister’s comment was partly misconstrued.

ā€œI’ve never been a fan of labels,ā€ Julianne said, explaining, ā€œI don’t identify that way and so, for me, it’s just about love… I just want every human to feel that way. That, like, they are perfect and beautiful and who they are is enough and, just, I love people. I love love, I love people, and I just want everybody to feel that.ā€

For Julianne, ā€œI’m a person who thrives off of flow instead of absolute certainty,ā€ she said, noting, by doing that, ā€œIt gives me a lot of freedom.ā€ She continued, ā€œYou know, sometimes you feel confined by your own shackles, right? So, the more I feel like I express, it doesn’t carry any weight for me holding me down.'ā€

Julianne’s interview with Women’s Health certainly made headlines — not only for her candid comments — but, for her completely nude cover. The dancer proudly posed bare for the magazine’s ā€œNaked and Strengthā€.  She began the interview by admitting that she told her husband, NHL star, Brooks Laich that she’s ā€œnot straight.ā€ — Something she said to her husband four months into their marriage. The two wed in July 2017.

ā€œI [told him], ā€˜You know I’m not straight, right?’ And he was like, ā€˜I’m sorry what?ā€™ā€ Julianne recalled to Women’s Health. ā€œI was like, ā€˜I’m not. But I choose to be with you.'ā€

Julianne went on to admit that she was nervous to share the intimate detail with her then new husband. ā€œI was connecting to the woman inside that doesn’t need anything, versus the little girl that looked to him to protect me,ā€ she explained in the August profile. ā€œI was like, ā€˜Is he going to love this version of me?’ But the more I dropped into my most authentic self, the more attracted he was to me.ā€
