The May 11 episode of Grey’s Anatomy ended with a bang — a literal one — when Stephanie was forced to kill a rapist, who had previously held her hostage while attempting to escape the hospital. The man was actually a patient — one all the doctors believed was in a romantic relationship with another patient of theirs. You see, these two individuals were brought to the hospital after their car was found in a canyon. The doctors assumed these two people were having sex before their car fell into the canyon, but what they later discovered was that the man was actually trying to rape and kill the woman. However, by the time they figured this out, and a lockdown was set in place, Stephanie was alone with the man in the hospital. That’s when he held Stephanie hostage, hoping she could help him find an escape route. Unfortunately for him, they ended up trapped on an empty floor with no way out. Stephanie got clever and set him on fire while he was attempting to set off the sprinklers and discontinue the lockdown, but his burning body landed next to a bunch of gas tanks, and anyone that has a brain knows that fire and gas aren’t a good mix. Stephanie tried moving him before anything more disastrous happened, but it was too late — she was hit by a fiery explosion before she could even reach him. So does this mean she’s dead? To get that answer, you’ll have to tune in next week. But considering we already know Jerrika Hinton‘s leaving the series at the end of this current season, she’s probably a goner.
In other Grey’s Anatomy news, Owen discovered that his sister Megan is still alive (is anyone actually surprised by that revelation?), so that pushed Amelia to step up and support him. At first, Owen had his doubt, but Teddy (Dr. Altman!) confirmed the news to Amelia over the phone. Owen was too emotional to talk to his ex. Riggs wasn’t told the news this week, but Meredith was on her way to tell him — that is, until the fiery explosion at the hospital halted her effort.
Furthermore, Alex attended a medical conference after learning Jo’s husband was going to be presenting there. But as much as he wanted to confront to abuser — and imagined it happening in several different ways — he chickened out. (Did anyone else catch Alex introducing himself as Alex Stevens in one of his imagined scenarios? Seemed like a definite nod to Izzie!) Click here to see more pics from Season 13 of Grey’s Anatomy!
