Looks like Scarlett Johansson, 32, has a nasty custody battle ahead of her! After filing for divorce from her French journalist husband Romain Dauriac on Mar. 7, the actress got hit with a major comeback — her hubby asking for primary custody of their 2-year-old daughter Rose! He’s claiming that over the past two years, HE has been the “primary parent” for baby Rose while ScarJo has been busy with her career.
“He plans to petition the court to allow him and his daughter to move to France,” Romain’s lawyer, Harold Mayerson, told People magazine. “He believes that [Scarlett’s] schedule makes it impossible for her to have [primary] physical custody.” Romain is also “imploring” her to withdraw her divorce filing for the sake of their little girl as apparently even he was blindsided by the divorce filing.
“It is indeed unfortunate, especially for our daughter, that Scarlett filed in Court and made our personal differences so public,” Romain reportedly said, according to Daily Mail. “I would implore her to withdraw her action promptly and go back, as uncomfortable as it might be, to the negotiating table. We are the parents of a lovely daughter whom we will continue to co-parent for many years and share her joys and sorrows as only a parent can.”
Apparently Scarlett and Romain were in the middle of private talks before ScarJo suddenly made the move to file. “We were shocked that they filed these proceedings in court,” Harold said. “We had been negotiating information relevant to their child Rose and also economic issues, so we were stunned when they did this. We’ve told [Johansson and her lawyers] that we would go to any means to try to avoid this.”
And while Scarlett is asking for joint custody of Rose, she also wants the child to live with her, which is why Romain plans to petition the court to take the child to live with him in his native France. However, he claims his ex will have “access to her daughter any time she wants to come to Paris.” “Mr. Dauriac is tired of having to run his life and his child’s life based on Ms. Johansson’s shooting schedule,” Harold said.
Tell us, HollywoodLifers — do you think ScarJo could actually lose custody of her daughter? Are you shocked that Romain wants full custody?
