As Warren Beatty faces backlash over that shocking flub at the Academy Awards on Feb. 26, the legendary actor’s son Stephen Ira has taken to Twitter to defend him. See the sweet message that Stephen shared with fans, and find out why he doesn’t think the Best Picture mix-up was a big deal!

“Proud of my dad for his grace! It’s live, stuff happens. Showbiz!” Stephen Ira, 25, tweeted shortly after the Best Picture confusion and multiple speeches at the Dolby Theatre. “I think it was just a mix up! Mistakes happen, especially in a live show,” he also wrote. Still, like the rest of us, he “freaked out” as it was happening. Take a look:

In case you fell asleep and missed it, Warren Beatty, 79, presented the Oscar for Best Picture but was given the incorrect envelope — causing him to announce La La Land as the movie of the year over Moonlight, the true winner. The mishap was corrected, but not before utter chaos ensued. Showbiz, indeed!

“I want to tell you what happened,” the Bonnie and Clyde actor said right after it happened. “I opened the envelope and it said, ‘Emma Stone, La La Land.’ That’s why I took such a long look at Faye [Dunaway, 76, who was co-presenting] and at you. I wasn’t trying to be funny.” Ooh, awkward.

Host Jimmy Kimmel then tried to lighten the mood. “Guys, this is very unfortunate what happened. Personally, I blame Steve Harvey for this,” he joked, referring to Steve’s viral Miss Universe mistake. “I would like to see you get an Oscar anyway — why can’t we just give out a whole bunch of them?” he added.
