Just in time for the NBA season, Dwyane Wade, 34, has been granted permission for his sons Zaire, 14, and Zion, nine, to make the move north from their former home in Miami to join their dad in Chicago! After 13 years with the Miami Heat, the shooting guard jumped at a two-year, $47.5 million offer to play for the Bulls back in July, and that meant a relocation for the family. Since he has sole physical custody, naturally the boys were going to be living with him, but a Florida judge had to sign off on the move due to Dwyane’s complicated and contentious custody agreement with ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches, 35.
On Oct. 13, a family court judge ruled, “there is no good cause not to permit the relocation.” That makes total sense as the boys’ mom lives in Atlanta anyway and they’d have no reason to stay behind in Miami without their dad. Per their timesharing agreement, Siovaughn will now travel to Chicago to see her sons while still having some weekends and holidays with them at her GA home.
This comes as perfect timing for the NBA star, who kicked off his career with the Bulls Oct. 27 with a home win against the Boston Celtics 105-99, where he scored a clutch 3-pointer in the final minute. Dwyane’s wife Gabrielle Union, 43, is an active stepmom to the boys so it’s great that the family is together again and resettled in Chi-town. With the custody situation out of the way, he can now concentrate on a successful season.
