If any of you had been seriously considering casting your precious vote for Donald Trump, we hope that the events of the past 2 weeks, ever since the Access Hollywood “pussy grabbing” videotape was released, have changed your mind.
All of you have worked hard to live lives of dignity and to be respected for your choices, hopes, dreams and accomplishments. All of you want to feel like you have an equal opportunity to make those hopes and dreams happen. That’s why we believe that you can’t vote for a man who will occupy the highest office in the land and who only sees women – 51 percent of the population, as either objects of his desire, or as “slobs,” “pigs” or “bimbos.”
Donald Trump, caught in an unguarded moment, gleefully shared with Access Hollywood‘s Billy Bush that he feels entitled to “grab” women “by the pussy.” Since then, 14 women have come forward accusing the GOP presidential nominee of sexually assaulting them.
His repeated response is that they are unattractive “liars” and he declared that he hasn’t even apologized to his wife Melania, for the pain, humiliation and embarrassment she has endured, because the accusations have been “debunked.” They haven’t been.
If the prospect of a president who has allegedly sexually assaulted multiple women isn’t bad enough for the country as a whole, you need to think about how this will directly affect you.
The president sets the tone as the role model-in-chief for how women and girls will be treated in schools, in the workplace and even in relationships. If the president thinks that kissing women without their consent is OK, if he defends alleged multiple sexual harasser Roger Ailes as a “very good person,” if he doesn’t believe in pay equality between men and women, then that will make your life and opportunities much worse, not better.

Furthermore, Donald Trump promised in the third presidential debate to nominate Supreme Court justices who will overturn Roe v. Wade, the court ruling that protects your right to an abortion. Your choice will be taken away.
If you have an immigrant background or are a Latina, then you are well aware of Donald Trump’s vicious promises to build a wall along the Mexican border after calling Mexicans, “rapists” and “murderers.” You know that he has vowed to deport up to 16 million undocumented people, including the “dreamers” – the young men and women – who have lived their entire lives in this country.
If you are LGBTQ, you no doubt know that his running mate, Mike Pence, the Governor of Indiana, signed into law the “Religious Freedom Restoration Act,” which allows businesses to discriminate against gay and transgender people. Donald Trump supports his views and actions. Donald Trump and Mike Pence also both support ending marriage equality. Trump wants to nominate judges onto the Supreme Court who will strike down the legality of same-sex marriage.
Donald Trump also wants to ban all Muslims from entering the US , institute regular surveillance of mosques and begin police patrols of neighborhoods with large populations of Muslims. In other words treat members of one religion unequally – fomenting suspicion about every member of America’s 3.3 million community, when virtually all are peaceful, patriotic Americans.
Is this what you want for your country? Discrimination against gay, lesbian and transgender people? Discrimination against people of hispanic and/or immigrant heritage? Discrimination against Muslims? Discrimination against women?
In contrast, you have an opportunity to vote for the first female president, Hillary Clinton, who has a long history of supporting “women’s rights” as “human rights,” and who vows to make our country more inclusive. We are “stronger together” is her campaign slogan.
She repeatedly has sworn that she wants to be the president for all Americans. Americans of all ethnicities, backgrounds, economic means, all religions, and all gender orientations. Hillary Clinton is passionate when she declares, “I will defend Roe v. Wade, and I will defend women’s rights to make their own health care decisions.” Roe v. Wade was the 1973 landmark Supreme Court decision which finally made abortion legal in the U.S. Before that, approximately 5,000 women died each year as the result of illegal abortions. Don’t you want to continue to make your own reproductive choices in consultation with your own doctor, not have Donald Trump or the government making them for you? We believe you do.
We also believe that you deserve every opportunity to earn equal pay for equal work and to get official paid family leave when you have babies, or when your children or another family member are ill. Hillary Clinton wants to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act to help end pay inequality between men and women. She also proposes to pass a bill that guarantees paid family leave for both women and men. Right now, the US is the world’s only developed nation without guaranteed paid family leave. You and your children deserve it.
If you care about the environment and the terrifying potential effects of global warming, then you have only one choice for president.
Donald Trump calls global warming a “hoax,” perpetrated by the Chinese. Hillary Clinton thankfully announced during her speech accepting the Democratic nomination — “I believe in science” – and “I believe that climate change is real and that we can save our planet while creating millions of good-paying, clean energy jobs.”
We believe that, too.
At Hollywoodlife.com, we want a next four years where you and all women and your children can thrive personally and professionally. We want a country where the president fights against bigotry and racism, anti-semitism and sexism — instead of promoting them, as Donald Trump has.
That’s why we at HollywoodLife.com endorse Hillary Clinton for president. We hope you agree HollywoodLifers. Now, please get out and vote on election day, Nov. 8! Your vote is critical! All our lives depend on it!
